How to add a 3d Cart shopping widget to your blog

No one is going to promote your site like you do. From your Tweets to your Facebook posts, if you aren’t promoting your business, why should anyone else?

One of the easiest, and honestly most fun ways to promote your business is to start a blog. The subject really can be about anything, but if your business follows one of your passions, then starting a blog that relates to your business is the way to go.

3dCart includes a blog that is a part of your shopping site and I encourage you to use this, but at the same time, starting a blog on a different server will give you a link into your site and also allow you to explore other topics that may not directly relate to your shopping site.

I have the site SemSeoWiz.com that centers primarily around SEM and SEO topics (and now the newest 3 letters in internet marketing – SMM) where i discuss the methods I used to promote my business and also tips and tricks and how to information for others interested in eCommerce. I even explore other topics like movie and product reviews and also a “Day of Rest” section that highlights the fun things I do when not working on the business.

So how do I promote my products on a different site or blog? Adding a line or two about your great products in every post you make might get a little repetitive and come across as an obvious sell job, but adding some products to your sidebar or in a traditional advertising spot is an unobtrusive way to add products to your blog or site – no matter what it’s about.

If you use 3dCart, the Social Commerce widget is a simple way to add your products to another site or blog. The great part about this widget is that it includes pictures of your products and is very easy to set up and install.

Step 1. Access the Social Commerce plugin with the 3dCart back-end

In the left sidebar, click on the SocialCommerce tab then click on the Social Widget.

Click on the link http://www.widgetbox.com/widget/3dcart (or actually just click this link here).

Step 2. Add the information about your store (or the store you want to promote) to the Social Commerce Widget Box

Enter the URL of your store and other settings like the size of the widget and the product categories that you would like to include. Here is a link to 3dCart’s explanation of the settings.

What’s nice is that as you adjust the settings, the Social Commerce Widget Box changes to show you how the widget box will look on your site or blog.

Now simply click on the “Get Widget” button.

Step 3. Get the Social Commerce Widget Box code and put in on your site

A pop up will appear with your code. Just hit the “Copy” button to copy the code to the clipboard.

Now hop on over to where you want to install the code. I use WordPress because it makes designing a site or blog super easy. I am pasting the code in as a sidebar widget.

And now the products appear on every page of my blog!

Remember, no one is going to promote your business more than you will. Lucky for all of us playing the eCommerce game, the tools once available only to the massive sites are now available to us in the 3dCart community.

Known conflicts: I did notice that when I put this plugin next to my YouTube channel player that the player would not show up. This is likely a conflict in the scripts. Just keep this in mind when adding to your site.
